Mangrove Reforestation
As part of its commitment to environmental stewardship and community development, ORIX METRO undertook a mangrove reforestation initiative in Barangay Cagsao, Calabanga, Camarines Sur in 2019.
The project brought together employee volunteers from the company’s South Eastern Luzon branches—Naga, Legazpi, Daet, and Sorsogon—as well as the Head Office to plant 5,000 mangrove propagules along the shores of San Miguel Bay. The activity formed part of ORIX METRO’s corporate social responsibility efforts to promote environmental conservation while supporting the long-term resilience of coastal communities.
Mangrove forests play a vital role in protecting shorelines from erosion, storm surges, and flooding. They also help sustain local livelihoods by serving as breeding grounds for fish, crabs, and other marine life, contributing to the ecological and economic well-being of surrounding communities.
The 2019 activity built on several years of mangrove planting initiatives undertaken by ORIX METRO. Collectively, these efforts resulted in the planting of more than 325,000 mangrove seedlings along the San Miguel Bay coastline, contributing to the restoration of coastal ecosystems and reinforcing the company’s commitment to creating positive social and environmental impact.
